17 Best Thrift Stores of Barcelona (with map)

Barcelona is renowned for its fantastic collection of boutique stores and independent brands. The city’s thriving youth culture and huge student population have resulted in an infestation of vintage shops and thrift stores, cementing its reputation as one of the best cities in Europe for thrifting.
The city plays host to regular weekend flea markets, abundant vintage boutiques and a seemingly infinite amount of ‘Humana’ charity shops. One is spoiled for choice so be sure to leave some extra room in your suitcase. As well as being a much more sustainable form of retail therapy, second-hand clothes shopping also ensures that your wardrobe attains a certain stylish individuality.

It is impossible to visit a neighborhood in Barcelona without stumbling across a handful of ‘Humana’ stores, making it is a dangerous city for a thrift shop junkie such as myself.
The shop’s reasonable prices and the charitable ethos of the enterprise do however make one feel slightly less guilty about walking in for a harmless browse and walking out with a bag overflowing with antiquated treasures.
At the core of the organization is the concept of ‘used clothing for sustainability’ and in a modern world where the fashion industry is responsible for approximately ten percent of all greenhouse gas emissions, recycling clothes has become more important than ever.
The money raised by the shops is donated to charitable development projects in Sub Saharan Africa, South America, and Asia. Given that there are a vast number of Humana shops in Barcelona, I have opted to recommend three of my favorite stores.
1. Humana Vintage, El Born
This particular store has two rooms, one that stocks standard second-hand clothing while the other stocks rare 1960s style vintage garments. It offers a fabulous collection of knitted everything… from ‘granny jumpers’ to eccentric knitted bags to knitted t-shirts. It is a wonderfully bizarre haven for crotchet fanatics. There is also a great selection of floral dresses and long, floaty skirts.

2. Humana Vintage, Gracia
Gracia is one of Barcelona’s trendiest neighborhoods. The people walking around Gracia tend to be very stylish, seemingly accidentally so, which is unsurprising given the numerous amount of concept stores and designer boutiques that constantly pop up in the area.
As with any area on style steroids, the charity shops are always the best place to go to find bargain designer pieces. Head to the back of the store to rift through an exciting assortment of unique, vintage items.

3. Humana, Universität

The narrow, long shape of this shop means that you are taken on a meandering adventure through the rails of bargains and baby doll dresses. The journey here is part of the excitement, for those that enjoy the rummaging at least. There is a vintage section at the back of the store which usually stocks some distinctive pieces.

NB; Whatever you do, if you find yourself to be in Barcelona in the last week of the month, be sure to visit Humana stores as this is when they host their famous one euro sale before changing over the stock. It is a useful local trick.
4. Flamingos Vintage Kilo

There are two ‘Flamingo Vintage Kilo’ shops in Raval, there is little difference between the two other than that the shop located in Carrer dels Tallers is moderately smaller. The clothing is priced by weight, which can be used effectively to your advantage. It is the perfect place to purchase lightweight vintage items, such as summer dresses and silk tops.

5. Holala! Plaza

Located in a gigantic warehouse in the Centre of Barcelona, ‘Holala vintage’ has rightfully asserted its reputation as one of the city’s most charismatic vintage stores.
The sheer quantity of garments that are on offer here means that it is unlikely, near impossible, to not find something to tantalize a customer’s style taste buds. The shop’s interiors, old-school soundtrack, quirky homewares, and authentic vintage pieces make shopping here a mesmerizing experience.
It is easy to get lost amongst the shops heaving racks for a few hours, slipping in and out of each era as you try on each outfit. The store has something for everyone, the classic, retro baseball jacket for the jock, a leather jacket ripped from the back of an original Harley Davidson motorcyclists for the biker chic and a bohemian sheepskin coat for the 1960s flower child.
Despite the large size of the store, the clothes are impeccably curated having been carefully handpicked from around the world.

6. Trash Closet
There are two Trash Closets in the city, one is located in El Born and the other, in Raval. I would recommend visiting the Raval store as it usually has a more diverse collection of vintage clothes.
Trash Closet is cheaper than most other boutique vintage shops in the city which makes it a great shop for those shoppers that crave the euphoric satisfaction of finding a cheap designer item amongst the store’s rubble of worn sweatshirts and tie-dye t-shirts.
The two shops mostly sell second-hand clothes from brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, North Face and sportswear brands like Nike and Adidas.

7. Magpie vintage
Situated in a scenic square in Born, this delightfully quirky vintage shop houses a small, but eclectic selection of bohemian vintage clothing. It offers a selection of white thrilly cotton tops, ethnic textiles and a shelf that displays a unique range of retro sunglasses.
The store also has a collection of beautiful, statement jewelry. It is worth popping into if you find yourself in the area.

8. Loisada

A few centuries ago this building was a horse stable nowadays, it plays host to one the most visually striking vintage boutiques in Barcelona. The ancient stone walls and high wooden beams create an enchanting setting in which one can spend hours getting lost amongst the treasures.
The clothes are displayed exquisitely in antique cabinets and there are endless racks of vintage prom dresses, each one gleaming against the backdrop of the traditional architecture. The store has been decorated with a scattering of old-fashioned objects such as record players, typewriters and sewing machines.
Vintage posters and ancient maps adorn the walls alongside an array of rusting musical instruments. Though the clothes are a little more pricey, it is worth paying a visit here if you wish to find something unique and elegant.

9. Produit National Brut (PNB store) Barcelona

Nestled amongst Raval’s cluster of vintage stores is this treasure chest of rare 60s/70s/80s clothes and antique homewares. The stock here consists of the usual statement vintage pieces, Hawaiian shirts and Levi shorts, as well as some more unusual items such as hand-painted bowls, retro magazines and racks of kaleidoscopic waistcoats.

10. La Principal
La Principal is an independent concept store that stocks vintage streetwear brands at reasonable prices. It is a small space with a well-curated collection of the 90s/noughties branded clothes.
It has a great selection of menswear, stocking t-shirts and sweatshirts from Fred Perry, Burberry, and Lacoste. The womenswear also consists of some funky finds such as fila tennis skirts and designer sunglasses. Be sure to check out the sale rack at the back of the store.

11. Off Vintage

This shop is one of my favorite vintage stores in Barcelona, it is a gallery to the counter culture style of the 90s and early 00s. The shop itself is an ode to the golden era of fashion that gave us the outfits of Gwen Stefani, Wynona Ryder and NWA.
The shop sells perfectly preserved sweatshirts, t-shirts and trousers from 90s brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Nike and Lacoste. Occasionally one might even stumble across some rare vintage Supreme. The shop’s suave decor and extremely friendly staff make it a store worth visiting.

12. Lullaby vintage Boutique

This charming vintage store is organized according to each era, taking customers on an evolutionary journey from the 1950s right through to the 1980s. You can drift through the racks of 1950s feminine mode dresses right through to the tartan punk that defined the 80s. The shop also has a great selection of designer handbags, scarves, and sunglasses from all eras.

13. Vintage A5E

Vintage A5E is a unique vintage shop that has been themed around the ‘rock and roll’ counter-culture that came to define the 1960s, 70s and 80s. Posters of Jimi Hendrix, Blondie and Lou Reed cover the shop’s walls alongside spray painted peace symbols and electric guitars.
The shop is filled with crates containing old records and memorabilia of bands that came to be the voice of a lost generation. The store is a paradise for customers that nostalgically long for the era in which shoulder pads and head to toe leather was the accepted norm.

14. Mercantic

We strongly recommend visiting the Mercantic in Sant Cugat, which is close to Barcelona if you’re ready to find real gems there. This lovely outdoor flea market, which has both antiques and contemporary furniture and accessories, is situated in a meandering area.
Since there are so many different coloured wooden buildings there, the area is really lovely. Even a cafe, as well as a few pubs and restaurants, are located there. That’s advantageous since you’ll want to stay a while after you arrive.

15.Els Encants Vells

The historic and endearing Els Encants Vells, which first opened in the 14th century, is Barcelona’s oldest, largest, and only really permanent flea market. It includes more than 500 vendors and sells a variety of goods, including vintage apparel, toys, antiques for the home, books, motorcycles, phone accessories, and more. Everybody can find something to like!
If you want to buy anything, go to the market early to prevent disappointment and to get it before all the popular items sell out. If you want to bargain and obtain a good price, schedule a late visit close to closing time since, at that time of day, merchants are eager to sell their wares. In close proximity to Plaça de Les Glories, the flea market is open every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 20:00 p.m.

16. Turquesh

For the most ambitious vintage enthusiast, here is the place. Turquesh provides a plethora of luxury brands and high-quality items together with a wealth of nostalgic treasures.
This location is a veritable playground for a secondhand treasure hunt, with everything from sunglasses to antique gowns, blouses, and silk scarves. Additionally, Christian Dior purses are available along with premium brands.

17.Retro city

There isn’t much better vintage shopping in Barcelona than this…
The most sought-after discoveries in the city may be found in Retro City. This second-hand shop is crammed with of many trinkets and accessories and is hidden among the bustling streets of the Raval neighborhood.
Find out about the wide variety of dresses, skirts, shirts, coats, shoes, boots, and several other goods. Choose an item from this section to finish your outfit and become the talk of the neighborhood.

Therefore, any vintage thing you’re looking for will be hidden somewhere within this haven for thrift store shoppers. Bubbly Barcelona is a must-see if you’re in the city since it contains a wide variety of independent businesses, huge boutique brands, pop-up shops, and regular flea markets.
