Quite often the best quality of the food in London comes from a market stall rather than a restaurant kitchen.
When you eat the best street food in London, you know that the people who made it are enthusiastic about that particular sort of cuisine, whether it’s fish and chips, ice cream, grilled cheese, or even cheese itself.
I’ve compiled a list of some of the popular favorite street food spots in London, both within bigger markets and in devoted street food regions.
Remember that when I mention, “street food,” I imply market stalls – sometimes they are outside, sometimes in large warehouses, sometimes under bridges!
1.Street Cube Wandsworth Southside
Street Cube is London’s most sustainable agricultural market, situated in South-West London close to the infamously Wandsworth Southside Commercial Center. The founders of Street Cube established the city Food Market in relation to the city’s food industry mechanisms and concerns about climate change. The Street Cube stands are repurposed shipping containers, unlike other Food Market stalls in London. It’s a wonderful chance for cooks who want to open booths, however, can’t afford the equity required to establish a shop on the street.

2.Kerb
You know those halloumi fries you’ve had your eye on Instagram however, have yet to try? You can thank KERB for them. Founded in 2010 to bring together the best street food vendors in London under one roof, they currently have five markets, work with over 240 street food sellers, and serve over 10,000 meals per month (that’s a lot). Furthermore, they served as a launching pad for favorites such as Bao, Pizza Pilgrims, Mother Clucker, and Baba G’s before they acquired permanent places. KERB is one of the Town’s nicest street food markets; come for crunchy double-fried chicken, pomegranate and tahini-slathered halloumi fries, and beef sandwiches with huge dill pickles. Mmmmmm.

3.Berwick Street Market
Berwick Street Market, a 300-year-old Soho bastion, is a strip filled with shouty fruit vendors, flower shops, and textile vendors among 20 or so street food stalls. Slithering lunchtime lines are a frequent thing, with locals, visitors, and customers eager for treats from Afghan Delights, Greek2Go, Paella Fellas, Savage Salads and The Jerk Drum. There is no seats available, and not all market vendors are open daily, however, Soho is still a great place to explore. This market, which is at risk of being redeveloped, is a treasured piece of old London.

4.Street Food Union Soho

Street Food Union Soho serves some of the most famous street food in London, prepared by a small number of devoted vendors. There are multiple choices, however, my favorites are the New Orleans-inspired Slinging Poboys. On Saturdays, Street Food Union transforms into one of London’s finest vegan food markets, filled with creative and delectable food options. Piccadilly Circus is the nearest Tube station, and Leicester Square is also nearby.

5.Leather Lane Market
As it is accessible for lunch on weekdays, this street of food kiosk is a famous London local hangout. It’s close to Farringdon Station, between Holborn and Farringdon, and there are some fantastic taco joints, Indian restaurants, grilled cheese stands, and more. This is a fantastic whimsical experience to have in London because it is a more unfamiliar and local market.

Tooting Market and Broadway Tooting Market were founded 81 years ago, and despite all these years, the two notorious South London’s prestigious indoor markets haven’t lost their allure. Over 7000 square feet.

7.Mercato Metropolitano
You’ll want to go to Elephant and Castle once you’ve figured out how to pronounce the name (Mur-cah-toe, FYI). Not only is conservation and ecofriendly selling at the heart of the market, but they also make the vast bulk of their ingredients on-site to guarantee your meal is as fresh as can be. There’s a farmer’s market shop brimming with gherkins, pastas and fresh bread, as well as more food stalls than you can eat in one sitting. Tom Katsu sandwiches (pork cutlet sandwiched between soft bread with kewpie mayo, remoulade, shiso, mustard and tonkatsu sauce) and traditional Italian charcuterie trays from Bottles and Battles are foodie favorites. 8.Bang Bang Oriental
Bang Bang Oriental is a massive pan-Asian food court…in Colindale! Colindale, you are correct. The long trip may put a few individuals off, although this is Europe’s biggest food court of its kind, with 27 independent stalls serving a variety of Oriental foods and tables and chairs for approximately 450 individuals. The expansive area also houses Chinese beauty salons, a community choreography audition studio, and the flagship Golden Dragon restaurant, which seats 300 people. Not sure where to begin?

12.Southbank Centre Food Markets
The Southbank, which houses the BFI and the National Theatre, is brimming with exciting activities. There are pop-up street food market throughout the year, skateboarders conducting stunts in the lengthy skateboard park, and kiosk vendors selling nice inexpensive secondhand items for less than a fiver. And that’s before you’ve even looked into the street market. The Frenchie serves duck confit burgers, Horn OK serves India’s popular vegetarian moong dal dosas, and Galeta serves saccharine-sweet pasteis de nata and gluten-free salted caramel brownies. Old Spitalfields Market is undoubtedly one of London’s lesser-known Food Markets, but it is among the most comprehensive in the city. Old Spitalfields Market, situated in Horner Square, is a recently refurbished wrapped market with a huge market hall.
The London Food Market is a fantastic spot to get delicious food and also home to several local designers and artists’ shops. In addition, Old Spitalfields Market was once a manufacturing region.
Tiny coffee shops, clothing stores, and fashionable bars now surround this London Food Market. If you want my perspective, I recommend going on a Friday. It is fairly quiet, and there are a few more food trucks available to provide you noodles, sandwiches and other delectable treats.

Brixton Village (aka, the old Market Row, situated down Coldharbour Lane) is a gastro ground-zero of types these days. Its strongest point is its pure whatever-you-want variation. Outstanding barbecue? Got it. Okonomiyaki are Japanese pancakes. Sure! Giant plates of authentic Latin cuisine? Yes, sir! Bubbles and French cheese? Naturellement! The atmosphere is also more elegant and less slummy than neighboring Pop Brixton.

The name says it all: Filipino outdoor cookout on London’s streets, a festival of refined textures and contrasts. There’s a lot going on in one of their packages – attempt the aubergine satay curry or the crispy ‘baboy’ (scented pork belly completely filled with sesame green bean salad, pickled cucumber and chicharron). Or, for an extra tenner, eat the ‘mega’ box, which includes both products. They also serve the very same combinations folded into wraps, as well as special packages like pulled pork buns. Such interesting flavors – and such wonderful people.

19.Brockley Market
Throughout the year, South London’s best view is a Saturday morning tradition. Stylish SE4 residents mill about, stockpiling on houseplants and agricultural goods while downing handcrafted coffee, foreign – made wines, and wonderful street food. It’s been an iconic area for a while now: foraging heroes Mike + Ollie and cult burger faves Mother Flipper began out here and still do so on a regular basis. Lines can be long, and seats are restricted to a handful of, however, everything here is worth the wait, and the atmosphere is welcoming.

If you come here on the weekend, you might feel a little uncomfortable as it is extremely packed. Travel to Beef Steak for some of the finest beef steak meals in London (and at an affordable price). While not as large as Borough Market, the size does not portray the variety of mouth-watering meals on sell (things just look like they are a bit squeezed in the market). Greenwich is a great place to spend an afternoon (visit Greenwich Park, the Cutty Sark, The Royal Observatory, The National Maritime Museum, to name a few) and the food market is the icing on the cake!

22.Bloomsbury Farmers Market
The Bloomsbury Farmer’s Market comes to Torrington Square once a week from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide a wide variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch choices. Most of the booths accept credit cards, however, carry some money just in case, and join the local number of students who eagerly awaits market day every week to try something new for lunch.
Tourists, residents, students, and anybody who has an interest in food are all happily invited, and although it is close to University of London buildings, it is not on a “campus,” so you won’t feel like an outsider if you don’t attend.

24.Camden Market Buck Street
Buck Street Market is Camden’s answer to Boxpark and Pop Brixton, a three-floor multi-purpose village area made up of 52 old cargo containers, several of which sell alcohol and market stalls (as well as Camden Market basic stalls). This is among the swankier local markets, so it may not be as quintessentially “street-food-y” as some of the other areas on this list, however, it’s nonetheless worth visiting. Furthermore, if Partridges is good enough for the Queen, it is most likely good enough for you and me! Hehe!
