Best Pet Stores in Paris

Call me crazy, but shopping for pets while on vacation may be one of the most fun activities possible whilst traveling! Parisians take their pets very seriously; owning one is a major commitment and responsibility due to the general compact nature of living in the city center.

Parisian pet shops are competitive, innovative and always on trend. Here’s where you’ll get the most bang for your buck.

Two Tails in Paris

Two Tails brands themselves as “A whole universe for dogs and cats”. This is an accurate description of what you can expect to find once inside. A haven, of sorts, for everything you’ll ever need to make man’s best friend more and more of a family member.

The staff at Two Tails take things as seriously, and you’ll get better service here than in some stores on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

Goods in this pet store aren’t cheap, but the quality really is quite unmatched compared to commercial pet products sold in supermarkets and the likes. In short, they’re made to last, and can be considered a long term investment for your pet compared to something that gets broken and disposed of after just a few weeks.

Petsochic in Paris

You’ll find this pet shop on the edge of the Seine, near the Notre Dame. It’s a boutique style pet store that sticks to the basics and essentials. This is the best place to come if you’re looking to take home a bespoke collar for your pet, complete with any personalized engraving you can think of.

They don’t just engrave collars at Petsochic, they actually put your pets name onto any item you purchase from the store. It’s a nice touch, and makes everything you’re gifting to your pet just that much more special.

If you want to purchase some French pet treats (edible), this is a good supplier! If you’ll be traveling a long way with your purchase, request that they wrap it adequately before you leave the store.

Dog in The City in Paris

This pet salon near the Place des Vosges is the best place for travelers who are venturing through Paris with a pet on board. You’d be surprised how many tourists travel with their fur babies, and how many of them end up needing a good groom two days into trolling the dirty Parisian streets.

Dog in the City will give your pooch a proper Parisian-style makeover, leaving them fluffed and ready to take on the city of lights. More than this, this is also a pet store, featuring top of the line products, toys and accessories to make your puppy’s day.

Comparatively, the cost of a grooming at this establishment is actually more affordable than elsewhere in Paris, and even Europe. Foreigners love brining their animals here when they are in town!

Dog Club in Paris

So, where does one go in Paris if they don’t yet face a dog of their own? Well, I can happily recommend this next spot, because its where I go immediately when I am ever feeling sad or lonely in Paris.

Dog Club is in the south of the city, near Montparnasse. This is a pet shop in the sense that they sell actual pets, as opposed to selling goods for preexisting ones! Basically, it’s puppies galore, and a cuteness overload that you need to see to believe.

They usually always have an array of different pups on offer, ranging from French bulldogs, Chihuahua, Yorkies, Dachshund and even dwarf poodles (OMG!). They’re tiny, tiny creatures, usually never older than just a few weeks old. Prices vary, but you can rest assured knowing you’re getting a healthy, happy new addition to the family.

Pets Sweet Home in Paris

In the far west of the city, there is one last pet supply shop that I need to mention. This is where I take friends who visit me and want to but their animals gifts from their trip.

It’s a dynamic concept shop that is stocked to the brim with everything you could ever need for dog-mom responsibilities. The products are not name brand heavy, so they’re reasonably priced without floundering in quality.

Personally, I find their toy section such fun to delve into. The shelves are quite literally overflowing with stuffed animals from your wildest dreams; think every emoji ever made, and every animated gif character ever recorded!

The staff are lovely and very knowledgeable. They’ll address all of your questions or concerns to the best of their capacity, or refer you elsewhere if they feel they cannot be of service in quite the way you need — amazing.
