The best pizza in Paris

Welcome to our guide all about the best pizza in Paris! With France and Italy being such close geographical and cultural neighbors, it’s no wonder that Paris is home to some excellent Italian cuisine. No matter where you come from, pizza is one of those foods that brings people together. Transcending borders, languages and cultures, it’s one of the most popular dishes in the world! From a classic margherita to more complex renditions incorporating unexpected ingredients, there’s something for everyone.  Whether you’re enjoying a picnic beneath the Eiffel Tower or simply in the mood for an Italian night out, the best pizza in Paris awaits you!

The unique spot: Circus Bakery

While Circus Bakery may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of pizza, it should definitely be on your list. From the same owners of the super popular Fragments café, Circus Bakery was destined for foodie greatness since its’ inception. In addition to their legit coffee offerings, the café also offers plenty of tasty baked goods and snacks. So, the whole purpose of this article is to share the best pizza in Paris, but where does a café fit in? Good question!

Well, this cool little coffee shop in the Latin Quarter makes an excellent pizza. Head there during lunch hour to pick up their margherita and marinara de folie.  If you’re a true pizza fan, I promise you won’t be disappointed with this one. Circus only makes one kind of pizza, but they do it so well. The legendary pizza is made with their famous sourdough crust and topped with homemade mozzarella. Add a flavorful and tangy tomato sauce and you’ve got a winning combo. Heads up: they tend to sell out of the pizza regularly, but they start selling them at 5 P.M.. My advice is to get there in the early evening hours to make sure you can to try one! There’s not much seating inside, but the café is just a two minute walk from the riverbanks. So Circus is the perfect pre-picnic stop!

The casual spot: Pizzeria Popolare

If you haven’t heard about it by now, it’s time you discover the famous Pizzeria Popolare. As part of the Big Mamma Group, Pizzeria Popolare promises authentic Italian cuisine and a great ambiance. What sets this restaurant apart from the others in the group is the casual, family-style dining environment. The restaurant is filled with long wooden tables, surrounded by eclectic lamps providing the perfect relaxing atmosphere. All of the restaurants in the Big Mamma group import their ingredients directly from Italy, and most of their staff are Italian as well. Pizzeria Popolare is no exception. This combo makes for a cool and super Italian dining experience in the heart of Paris.

The simple pizzas are made in a traditional wood-fired pizza oven, and garnished with the freshest ingredients. Choose from the classics like the margherita, the rich 4 formaggi or opt for one of their unique creations like the more decadent truffle pizza. A thin crust topped with creamy mushrooms, fresh parmigiano and a generous portions of truffles, this is a must-try for any truffle lover. If you still have room after your pizza, the desserts are excellent (and affordable!) here as well.

The only downside here is that the pizzeria is extremely popular. And for good reason! So get ready to queue up for this tasty spot, the good news is the line moves pretty quickly.

The Neapolitan spot: Il Forno di Napoli

Despite being located in the busy Montparnasse district, this spot will make you forget you’re even in Paris. Il Forno di Napoli is casual, cozy and of course very authentic. From the moment you step inside you’ll feel like you’re truly in Italy. Old portraits adorn the walls and there are dried peppers and spices hanging from the ceiling. A sweet family from Naples runs the restaurant, and their heartwarming family recipes will have you coming back for more. Their wood-fired pizza oven churns out some of the best pizza in Paris!

Simple, fresh and quality ingredients make the difference in the pizza here. There’s also a huge selection! Whether you prefer the most basic margherita pizza or the most decadent pies topped with anything from prosciutto to truffle, this place won’t let you down. If you like it hot, I would recommend the diavola pizza, which features spicy Italian salami and creamy mozzarella. The friendly environment, excellent service and tasty pizzas make this place a welcome addition to any day.

The chic spot: Anima

Anima is the ultimate Rive Gauche pizza spot. The interior reflects its surroundings in the upscale 6th arrondissement perfectly. A chic black and white theme is kept cozy with marble accents, dark wood finishes and high tables. Their beautiful wood-fired pizza oven is front and center, ensuring an authentic pie every time. Everything about Anima from the decor to the food feels sophisticated and modern. But staying true to their Italian roots is what makes theirs some of the best pizza in Paris.

All of the ingredients at Anima are super fresh and are sourced directly from Italy. Customer favorites include the  savory Trastevere with sundried tomatoes, raw ham and stracciatella. The Del Re is also sure to become a favorite. Fior di latte, fresh cherry tomatoes, zingy gorgonzola and rich proscuitto and basil all come together perfectly in the Del Re. Can’t seem to decide? Anima also offers a traditional à la carte style menu with delicious starters, mains and desserts all inspired by Italy.

The brand new spot: Uno Pizza

Last but certainly not least on my picks for the best pizza in Paris is brand new Uno Pizza. Located in the middle of the Louvre district, Uno serves up classic Italian fare with a sophisticated twist. The restaurant is set up in true trattoria style and the comfortable interior is instantly inviting. Uno has a full pizza menu as well as wonderful à la carte offerings. Featuring mainstays like the four seasons and margherita plus more imaginative pies, there’s something to suit everyone’s tastes. The Camine pizza is a definite favorite loaded with guincale, sun-ripened Italian tomatoes and fresh provola and parmigiano.

Of course, Uno is known for their pizza, but their other dishes don’t disappoint. House specialties include Italian comfort foods like all-day roasts and homemade pasta. It will be tough at Uno, but don’t forget to save room for dessert! For example, their house tiramisu is unforgettable. Decadent layers of marscapone and biscuit are topped off with a pour of fresh espresso for the ultimate indulgence.
