Sintra is a magical city with a lot to see and to visit. You can go to Sintra by train, it only takes thirty to forty minutes to get there from the center of Lisbon! You can visit the famous and colourful Pena Palace – which is one of the
Seven Wonders of Portugal
, the Moors Castle, the Quinta da Regaleira, and many more amazing monuments.

Also, the forest and the beach are not to be missed! They look like they are straight out of a fairytale. Sintra is an outstanding city. There is so much to see! It would be a shame not to seize the opportunity to visit it. And before you leave, have a taste at the traditional and delicious Queijadas from Sintra. Indeed, in Portugal, each municipality does have its own traditional desserts and are as tasty as one another.

Next on my list of things to do in Lisbon in February is to take a boat cruise on the
Tejo river
. This is a great activity, you will discover Lisbon on a new perspective. You will get to see the enlightened landmarks of Lisbon while the sun either rises or sets.

The company BYX offers great options. Their boat cruise lasts for two hours, and the drink is on them! This deal costs 69,90 euros for two persons. If you’re spending Valentine’s Day in Lisbon with your significant other and are still wondering what to do, I think this can turn out to be one of the greatest moments of your stay!

Attend an opera at Teatro São Carlos

Located in the Chiado, the Teatro São Carlos is considered to be the most
beautiful theater in Lisbon
! It was built to replace the Ópera do Tejo, the Royal Opera House in English, that was destroyed during the 1755 earthquake. It first opened its doors in 1793 and, since then, proposes world-known operas and breathtaking performances!

It is one of the best things to do in Lisbon in February, especially if you’re coming with your lover! Dress up and attend an outstanding opera in the most stunning theater of Lisbon! Also, during the summer, on the square in front of the Teatro São Carlos classical music concerts and perfomances happen. They are organized by the theater and they are free! It is definitely a must-do during the summer!

The Miradouro da Graça, also known as Miradouro Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, is one of the best belvederes of Lisbon. You will like it during the day, and you will love it during the night! The Miradouro da Graça offers a splendid view over Lisbon, the Alfama district and the Castelo São Jorge while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Take the Tram 28 for a unique trip around the greatest landmarks of the city

thingstodoinlisboninfebruary20

The Tram 28 is one of the oldest ones of the city and the only one that goes through the Alfama neighborhood. It starts at Campo Ourique and goes until Martim Moniz. It itinerary is the best, because it will allow you to see Chiado and Alfama in one trip.

However, you need to know that it usually is very crowded because of its popularity, but the month of February is perfect because it is one of the less touristy of the year! You can take the Tram 28 using your metro travel ticket, it will cost you less money. If you buy it one site, it will be a little more expensive and drivers usually don’t appreciate it.

Get to know everything about Fado

thingstodoinlisboninfebruary22

The Lisboa Antiga is a newly founded company that organized tours and events. It offers the guests several programmes to introduce them to Fado and the history of the city. The 7 Fados, 7 Colinas tour is an amazing experience I recommend to anyone who wishes to learn more about Fado and its link to the city.

During two hours, from 4 pm to 6 pm, you will walk with a guide the most emblematic neighborhoods of Lisbon. For instance: Largo do Chiado, Largo Camões, Bairro da Bica, Bairro Alto, Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, among other highlights of the city. At the end of the tour, you will attend a Fado perfomance at a traditional Fado house in Bairro Alto, while eating typical Portuguese specialties.

The company has several tour options. The one I just talked about happens during the afternoon, but you also can pick an evening one. But one thing that is common to all the Lisboa Antiga tours is that they always combine Fado and food.
