The Rodin museum is one of my personal favorites. What is great with this sculpture museum is the fact that it is both inside and outside. You wander randomly in the gardens and get to see some of the masterpieces that stand there. Check out things to do near the Paris Rodin Museum.

Things to do near the Paris Rodin Museum

You will see all the “Bourgeois de Calais” series statues, but also the Gate of Inferno (“La porte des enfers”), from Dante’s Inferno, and obviously the “Thinker”, which is way bigger than usually expected! Inside, the biggest masterpiece may be “The Kiss”, which is according to me one of the most powerful pieces of art I have ever seen.

Do not hesitate anymore, once you have visited the Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Elysées, the Rodin Museum is a must-see! But when you’ve visited it, you might want to go around this area. Here is a list of the best things to do near the Rodin Museum.

Visit the invalides and Grave of Napoleon

The invalides might the most underrated monument in Paris. If you visit only the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elysées and the Louvre museum, you will surely miss one of the most majestic landmarks of Paris, which is the Invalides.

The construction of this monument was ordered by King Louis XIV on February 24th 1670 to be a hospital and retirement home for injured militaries (“invalides” in French).

It remains today a haven for militaries, but is also now the military museum of the Army of France as well as the burial site for some of France’s war heroes, like Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Visiting it is surely one of the best things to do near the Rodin Museum.

Walk through the Embassies area up to Saint-Germain-Des-Pres

st Germain

On the opposite side, you could be interested in visiting the (obviously) very nice district of the embassies. Not all the embassies of Paris are located in this neighborhood (mostly on Rue de Varenne and Rue Vaneau), but if you are interested.

You may also enjoy wandering around this area, where there’s also the French Ministry of the Agriculture and the Hotel Matignon (see picture), where the French Prime Minister lives. This is amongst the best things to do near the Rodin Museum. So if you want to do a political tour of Paris, the Rodin Museum is a great starting point!

Have a like-the-stars drink at the Cafe De Flore

Cafe-De-Flore

When you have arrived at the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood (basically the Boulevard Saint Germain) after coming from de Rodin Museum, you absolutely cannot miss the Café de Flore, one of the most iconic cafés in Paris. This is one of the best things to do after visiting the Rodin Museum.

This is the place where the greatest French philosophers, writers, artists used to chill and have a coffee in this very artistic neighborhood, from the end of the XIX century and during the whole XX century. Still today, if you are lucky, you may see some famous French people, because some of them still live in this neighborhood and love to have coffee there!

Bring your children to the lovely Taras-Shevchenko Park

Taras-Shevchenko

This is absolutely the best place for kids near the Rodin Museum if you are with your children. It is located on the Boulevard Saint Germain, just next to the Rue des Saints-Pères.

Rest on a bench while they run in this small park that they will enjoy very much, I can assure you about that! And right in front of it there is a little shop where a very nice man sells very good crêpes, so do not hesitate to visit! So, what would you like to do around the Rodin Museum?
