He was born in 1977 in Amiens. Both his parents worked in the medical field, but Macron followed a different path. At Paris Institute of Political Studies, he joined the “Public Service” branch, and graduated from the the institute, commonly known as Sciences Po. He then got a master degree in Philosophy at Paris-Nanterre University. Then, Macron continued his studies at the ENA, the École nationale d’administration, which was founded by Charles de Gaulle who was President of France during both World Wars. This school was to make senior civil service accessible to everyone. Benefiting from the German Marshall Fund, he went for the United States for an internship at the Rothschild bank.
He met François Hollande in 2006 and started working with him in 2010. Macron was Hollande’s deputy secretary-general, and then became the Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs. Macron is, without a doubt, one of the youngest politicians there is but has had an interesting journey. Fun fact nº1: He married his former high school teacher
You probably already know the first fun fact about Macron, because it draws a lot the attention of the media, it is the huge age gap between him and his wife, Brigitte. She is twenty-four years older than him.
Macron met Brigitte Trogneux during high school in 1993, when he was fifteen years old. She was his drama teacher. At that time, she was married and already had three children. After Brigitte got divorced, Macron and her got married in 2007.
Fun fact nº2: He was an investment banker, prior to entering politics
After graduating and finishing his studies, Emmanuel Macron worked at Rothschild as an investment banker. During this period, he earned a lot of money and regularly met with representatives of the political and economic elites.

On May, 7th of 2017, Macron defeated Le Pen and became President of France. Aged 39, Emmanuel Macron is the youngest president France has ever had.

When he was Ministry for the Economy and Finance, Macron proposed to the Council of Ministers the “Macron Law” in december of 2014, saying it would “unlock the French Economy“.
The bill became law on the 11th of July of 2015. This law was designed to increase growth, activity and equal opportunities. For instance, among other reforms, some sectors were authorized to work on sundays.
Fun fact nº5: He started his own political party
In August of 2016, he resigned from his functions as Ministry for the Economy and Finance and started dedicated all his time to his own political party, En Marche!, which can be translated as On the Move! Macron was not satisfied with the system and considered that the government left a lot of issues unsolved.
He decided to start a centrist party, the En Marche! one, with the intention to combine both left and right wing parties ideologies. For the development of his campaign of the presidential election, the En Marche! volunteers knocked on voters doors to ask around what changes they were expecting. When people asked if the programme he was proposing during the presidential election was of the left of the right wing party, he answered that he wanted it to a programme that brings France into the twenty first century. He wanted to build a centrist political party so that the French could unite and not be divided.
