Paris is a city of gastronomy and good food, but it is also a very international capital: it is the perfect mix for original culinary adventures. If you hesitated between Mumbaï and Paris for your holidays and ended up choosing the French capital, I’ve got the perfect compromise for you. Here are the top 5 Indian restaurants in Paris!

1. Samsara

Head to Paris’ 20th arrondissement at 3 rue Jourdain, where you will find Samsara. Easily one of the top 5 Indian restaurants in Paris, Samsara is far flung from the more touristic areas of Paris. And stopping for a meal here gives you an excellent opportunity to explore the north of Paris!

The meals are here from India and from Pakistan, and the delightful combination of flavors have already seduced the twentieth arrondissement inhabitants. The main dishes are pretty affordable (from seven euros to fourteen euros) and their menus are too. Plus, if it’s sunny you can enjoy your food while sitting at their big terrace. If you’re in the mood for a picnic you should know that the restaurant offers a take-away option and that the place is conveniently located next to the Buttes-Chaumont park.

2. Delice de L’Inde

Easily ranking as one of my top 5 Indian restaurants in Paris is the aptly named Delice de L’Inde. Situated in Paris’ up and coming Batignolles neighborhood, this cozy restaurant is a welcome reprise after a day of exploring the nearby attractions like Parc Monceau. At Delice de L’Inde you will not only get to taste some exceptional Indian cuisine, but you’ll experience  a warm welcome and exceptional service – I don’t have to tell you how much of a treat that is in Paris!

Their lunch and dinner offerings are diverse, with over seventy dishes to choose from! If you have the chance to stop in for lunch, you can try an authentic Thali which is a platter of several different Indian dishes to mix with rice. It even includes dessert! And all for just ten euros.

At dinner time you can choose from house specialties like Chicken Tawa (a spicy tomato-based chicken dish served on a sizzling hot plate) or more classic dishes like Korma, or Vindaloo. There are plenty of options for vegetarians, too. And the portions are generous, so be sure to arrive hungry!

The top 5 Indian restaurants in Paris are full of surprises: the Au Palais du Grand Moghol is located at 9 rue Gérando in the 9th arrondissement. The atmosphere will take you momentarily out of Paris and land you land directly in the middle of New Delhi.

The meals are particularly sophisticated and the restaurant is located next to the Sacré-Coeur. This place is definitely a great address to remember while visiting the touristy Montmartre area!

This restaurant offers a unique atmosphere and incredible cuisine. It is praised by the regulars for the classic Indian dishes, and the affordable prices. The average price for a main dish and a dessert is eighteen euros for lunch and it’s just a bit more expensive for dinner. Au Palais du Grand Moghol also happens to be a really popular place so reservations are recommend.

Vegetarians, this one is for you! My guide to the top 5 Indian restaurants in Paris would not be complete without a completely vegetarian place. Vegetarian food plays an important role in South Indian cuisine, and that’s just what you’ll find at Krishna Bhavan. Situated in the middle of the Latin Quarter, Krishna Bhavan is open all day and late into the night, making it popular with the student crowd.

You can expect an array of fresh vegetarian products and delightful Indian recipes you’ve never tried before, all in the comfortable confines of the Krishna Bhavan. Located at 25 rue Galande, you’ll be a short walk away from attractions like Notre-Dame and the Pantheon. So Krishna Bhavan makes a great stop for lunch or dinner during a day of exploring.

This unique place happens to be located on a quiet street in the middle of the Latin Quarter. If you would like to discover this area in depth, don’t hesitate to join our free Left Bank  walking tour after your meal.

5. Buddha Restaurant

Our last stop on this guide to the top 5 Indian restaurants in Paris actually serves dishes from Népal too! Authenticity defines this place, from the outside to the inside. Buddha Restaurant is located in a modern area of Paris (not really known by tourists), at 13 rue Saint-Hippolyte in the locals-only 13th arrondissement. The owner of the restaurant warmly welcomes the customers and makes each one feel at home. The staff are happy to explain different dishes and their origins, so you can feel confident trying something completely new!

Their main dishes such as Chicken Tikka Massala and Lamb Korma are tried and true classics, but don’t hesitate to try something a little more out of the box, like their famous Momos. This dish is native to Nepal, and is basically vegetable or meat dumplings in a tangy and brothy sauce. Definitely worth a try! And in case you thought we forgot the sweet stuff, no one can resist the deserts, especially their Kulfi Mango, which is a type of homemade Indian ice cream.

Granted, the Buddha Restaurant is a little spendy, but their portions are generous and the service is great. The average price for a starter and main for lunch is twenty euros and you might have to pay for extras. Dinner is slightly pricier, but portions are also larger. The warmth and the originality of the recipes are the main assets of the Buddha, considered by many as one of the all-time best Indian restaurants in Paris.
