During an interview it founders recalled how the company started and grew over time, “We started in the cheapest place in Sant Cugat, with two Ikea tables and a couple of computers, a lot of enthusiasm and many hours, as well as a small physical store; little by little we grew and moved to a more central store.”

Biking for a long time has been associated with men, however Doménica is breaking this norm by selling bicycles, equipment and accessories focused primarily on women. They offer road, mountain and urban bikes.

Doménica was initially one of the many shops run by Tomas Domingo, however it broke off from Tomas Domingo. As one Marta, the store’s exuberant Marketing Manager, explains, “We decided to break away from the Tomas Domingo branding and hired Marcel Batlle to be the architect and designer of the brand image. We realised we’d be better off introducing a new concept and name. The name Doménica shows the ties to Domingo and obviously relates to the Italian word for Sunday–everyone’s best day for a ride.”

In an effort to promote female cycling within the city, Doménica organizes two outings a month that aim, on the one hand, that girls meet other cycling girls and, on the other hand, motivate those who have not yet tried with this sport.

Doménica is a must-try for all women as it promotes biking equipment meant for women and offers biking initiation courses for women.
