The Best Seafood Restaurants in Barcelona

Eating seafood when visiting a coastal region should be a gastronomic given. Some of the best seafood in Spain filters right through Barcelona, before it travels inland to cater to the high demand for ocean protein throughout Spanish cuisine.

Good seafood in Barcelona is very easy to find, but here are some of my personal top picks anyway!

La Paradeta in Barcelona

La Paradeta is actually a restaurant chain, with over 10 locations across Barcelona alone. This is the one I like most, simply due to how central it is to the heart of the city, however the quality reflects throughout their branches so you can easily visit any spot that is nearest to you.

La Paradeta is fresh seafood served fast-food style. The dynamic is self service with a smile, and the food is the star of the show. Don’t let the casualness of the interior deter you; you won’t find better seafood anywhere in the city, this I can assure you.

Crudo Bar Barcelona in Barcelona

If you want value for money, a vibrant ambiance, and food presentation that will send your Instagram engagement soaring — head to Crudo Bar before the day is over!

I’m not sure I’ve has as much of an enjoyable seafood restaurant experience elsewhere in the world. There is something very special and very right happening in this establishment daily, and regardless of how full they are, one never feels neglected by service even for a moment.

They are known for the freshest octopus out there — I would highly recommend this dish if it’s partial to your palate!

Can Fisher in Barcelona

Can Fisher? All I can say is, vibe! Here, you’ll gorge on seafood that might as well have been pulled straight from the ocean water just out ahead of the restaurant, and put on the plate in front of you.

Everyone comes for their lobster, which is a great sharing plate if you want to make things a little romantic. The spot specializes in fish, shellfish and paella of every kind, but the real star of their show is their sangria.

Take note of their very limited dining hours: Only between 1pm and 5pm, daily.

La Mar Salada Restaurant in Barcelona

The dining streets near Barceloneta beach are all pretty competitive when it comes to seafood, paella and sangria. They know the tourists are here to eat it up, and so it’s difficult to fault them as they are all working very hard to drive traffic through their doors.

I must say, that la Mar Salada is probably the best seafood restaurant on this particular strop (Passeig de Joan de Borbo). It’s a brilliant spot with outdoor seating, and attentive staff who aren’t all caught up in turning tables as fast as possible, like many other spots are in this neck of the woods.

Again, very limited dining hours at these beachside spots. La Mar Salada closes up at 4:30pm, sharp. No, there is no dinner service on offer here.

Carballeira Restaurant in Barcelona

This seafood spot is a short walk from the aforementioned restaurant, also situated on one of the many dining strips that encase the beachfront of the city.

In terms of interior, this is a more formal establishment where one can really go to town with an outfit to impress. That being said, Carballeira is not here to turn away beachcombers looking for a plate of tasty sea life after a day in the sun.

It’s the perfect balance between casual and fine — and the menu is reasonably priced to ensure the energy is held very gently in the middle.

You’ll be tempted to try their paella, but I would recommend digging into a few different seafood plates instead, especially if you have one or more people dining with you with whom you can share!

Closing even earlier then our previous two locations, Carballeira only opens to patrons between 1pm and 4pm, daily.
